Spain defeates France in straight sets

France did not succeed in winning their second pool match and therefore will play for the places five till eight. Today (Saturday) they lost in straights sets from a solid Spain (25-20, 25-17, 25-21). Tomorrow they will play against Belgium and Spain have to battle with The Netherlands for the number one spot in the poule.

The talented girls of head coach Serge Marouteau reached the second technical time-out with a small advantage of one point. But from then on Spain scored seven points in a row, which broke the resistance of the French girls for this set.

Spain totally outclassed France in the first points of the second set. The technical time-out was reached by 8-1 score. During the set the French ladies recovered from this disaster, but they were not able to come closer and bring Spain the nerves. So Spanish girls could easily double their lead in sets.

In the last set Spain againg took the lead from the beginning and never got in problems anymore. Every look at the score board showed a comfortable difference of minimal five points. At the end of the game France reduced the score to four points, but that was just important for the statistics.
